What Invisalign Costs Here
One fee, quoted in writing after the exam and the scan, once Dr. Bernard Boback has mapped the full treatment. That number is the number, and it does not grow as you go.
How it sits against the alternatives: traditional braces are the value option at our office, and Invisalign costs more, in line with ceramic braces, because both are the discreet route. Retainers after treatment carry their own fee.
What moves the Invisalign fee itself is the case, meaning how far the teeth have to move and how many aligners that takes. What does not move it is a promotion, which is exactly the distortion we want out of orthodontic decisions.
The consultation is free and includes photographs, X rays and the digital scan, and you leave with today's exact figure in writing. Or call (713) 322-7474 and ask.
What the Fee Actually Includes
This is where quotes diverge, so it is worth being specific.
Included here:
• The full series of aligners, however many your case needs.
• Attachments, the small tooth colored bumps bonded to some teeth so the plastic has something to grip.
• Interproximal reduction, the small amount of space sometimes created between crowded teeth.
• Every check-in visit for the length of treatment.
• Refinements. Most cases need a final short series to close out the details, and it is part of the plan rather than a second invoice.
• A rescan and replan if your case stops tracking.
Not included:
• Retainers, which you will need and which we would rather price openly, as their own line, than bury.
• Treatment of any decay or gum disease found at the exam. Aligners only move teeth that have a solid foundation under them, so that work comes first. A deep cleaning, if your gums need one, is priced per quadrant, so the exam determines the total.
• Cosmetic work afterward, such as whitening or per-tooth bonding, which some patients add once the teeth are straight.
Why Invisalign Quotes Differ So Much Across Houston
Search for Invisalign in Houston and the quotes you collect will span a multiple of each other, from teaser packages to premium fees. Most of that spread is not clinical. It is how the fee is structured.
Four things to check on any quote:
• Is it capped by aligner count? Many low headline prices are a package limited to a set number of trays. Run past it and you buy another package.
• Are refinements included? A large share of cases need them. If they are billed separately, the headline figure is not the real one.
• Are retainers included, and what do they cost? A quote with no retainer answer is incomplete, because teeth relapse without one.
• Who plans the case? The aligners are the same product wherever you go. What differs is whether an orthodontist designed the tooth movement or whether a software proposal was accepted as returned.
A genuinely cheap Invisalign quote in Houston is usually one of three things: a limited tray package, a case where refinements and retainers are extra, or a general practice treating a case that needed a specialist. Sometimes it is simply a good price. Ask the four questions and you will know which.
Invisalign or Braces: How They Compare
Traditional braces are the value option here and Invisalign costs more, so price is one honest input. It should be the last one, though, after the clinical and practical questions.
Invisalign suits crowding, spacing, relapse after childhood braces and mild to moderate bite correction. It is removable, so you eat normally and clean your teeth normally, and it is a genuine advantage for anyone playing a wind instrument or a contact sport.
Its weakness is that it works only while worn. Twenty to twenty two hours a day, every day. Below that the aligners stop tracking, and the case stretches.
Braces work whether or not you remember them, and they have a broader range for severe rotations, large vertical movement and complex bite correction.
Dr. Boback will tell you plainly which one finishes your case well. If your case can go either way, the choice is genuinely yours. More detail in our Invisalign versus braces comparison.
Cheaper Routes, and What They Cost You
Invisalign Express is the short version, capped at a small number of aligners and typically finishing in three to six months. It comes in below the full fee and it suits a narrow group: minor front tooth crowding, a small gap, or relapse where there is no bite problem underneath. We quote it at the consultation. If your case is likely to run out of aligners, we will recommend full treatment from the start rather than have you pay twice.
Mail order aligner services are the other route people ask about. The clinical objection is not the price, it is that no one examines your mouth or takes an X ray before your teeth are moved. Moving teeth with untreated gum disease or hidden decay under them causes real damage, and there is no one in the room when something goes wrong. SmileDirectClub, the largest of these companies, ceased operations, which left customers mid treatment.
The honest alternative to expensive orthodontics is often no orthodontics. If your teeth are healthy and the crowding does not bother you day to day, nobody here will push you to treat it.
How Orthodontic Insurance Actually Works
Orthodontic benefits sit apart from the rest of your dental plan, and the differences catch people out.
They usually carry a separate lifetime maximum rather than an annual one. Once it is used, it does not reset next January.
Many plans apply an age cutoff, commonly limiting the benefit to dependants under 19. Adults are frequently excluded entirely.
Some plans pay the benefit in monthly instalments to the practice across the treatment period rather than as a lump sum at the start.
Whether your policy contributes anything to Invisalign, and whether it treats aligners the same as braces, depends entirely on that policy. We verify your specific orthodontic benefit with your insurer before you start and give you your out of pocket share in writing rather than estimating it.
FSA and HSA funds cover orthodontic treatment and the money is pre tax, which is how a good number of our adult patients handle it. If you are planning treatment for next year, that is worth knowing before open enrollment.
Paying Monthly
Cherry, Affirm and Sunbit split the balance into monthly payments. Affirm and Cherry offer 0% APR plans, so on a qualifying plan the total you pay is the quoted fee rather than the quoted fee plus interest.
Applying takes a few minutes and seeing your options does not require a hard credit check.
Our in-house membership plan is a flat annual fee that covers your exams, cleanings and X rays. It does not cover orthodontic treatment, and we would rather say that plainly than let it be assumed. What it does is keep the routine care predictable while you are paying for aligners.
What we will not do is quote you a monthly figure without the total attached. A low monthly payment across a long term is not a discount.
Getting a Written Quote in Midtown Houston
The consultation is free and takes about 45 minutes. You leave with the treatment plan, the projected outcome on screen, the number of aligners your case needs, the timeline and the cost in writing.
Dr. Bernard Boback, our orthodontist, trained at Harvard and plans every case here. If your gums need attention first, our periodontist Dr. Shirin Farhadian is in the same building, so that does not become a referral and a six week wait.
We are at 106 W Gray Street in Midtown, between Downtown and the Texas Medical Center, with parking on site and Saturday appointments from 9 to 3. We see patients from Montrose, River Oaks, the Heights, EaDo and the Museum District.

Frequently asked
How much does Invisalign cost in Houston?
The average cost of Invisalign in Houston varies widely from practice to practice, mostly because of how fees are structured rather than anything clinical. At Omega Dental Specialists it is one written fee covering the full series of aligners, attachments, every check-in visit and the refinements at the end; retainers afterward carry their own fee. You get today's exact figure in writing after a free consultation that includes photographs, X rays and a digital scan, or by calling (713) 322-7474.
Why is Invisalign so much cheaper at some Houston practices?
Usually because the headline figure is capped by aligner count, or because refinements and retainers are billed separately, or because a general practice is treating a case that needed a specialist. Sometimes it is simply a good price. Ask four questions of any quote: is it capped by tray count, are refinements included, are retainers included and what do they cost, and who designs the treatment plan.
Is Invisalign more expensive than braces?
At Omega Dental Specialists, yes: traditional metal braces are the value option, and Invisalign is priced in line with ceramic braces because both are the discreet route. The recommendation you get is still about your bite rather than about margins, and if your case can be treated either way we say so and the choice is yours. Today's exact fees are quoted in writing at the free consultation.
Does insurance cover Invisalign?
It depends entirely on your policy. Orthodontic benefits sit apart from the rest of a dental plan, usually carry a separate lifetime maximum rather than an annual one, and many plans apply an age cutoff that excludes adults. Some pay in monthly instalments across treatment. We verify your specific orthodontic benefit with your insurer before you start and give you your share in writing.
Can I pay for Invisalign monthly?
Yes. Cherry, Affirm and Sunbit split the balance into monthly payments, and Affirm and Cherry offer 0% APR plans, so on a qualifying plan the total stays the quoted fee. Applying takes a few minutes and seeing your options does not require a hard credit check. FSA and HSA funds also cover orthodontic treatment, pre tax.
What is the cheapest way to straighten teeth in Houston?
Invisalign Express, the short version capped at a small number of aligners, comes in below the full fee and suits minor front tooth crowding or a small gap with no bite problem underneath. It is quoted at the consultation. We do not recommend mail order aligners, because no one examines your mouth or takes an X ray before your teeth are moved, and moving teeth over untreated gum disease causes real damage.
Are refinements and retainers included in the price?
Refinements are included at Omega Dental Specialists. Most cases need a final short series of aligners to close out the details, and it is part of the plan rather than a second invoice. Retainers are not included and carry their own fee, which we would rather price openly than bury, because you will need them and teeth relapse without them.
