Dr. Bernard Boback, DMD, MS
Dr. Bernard Boback, "Dr. Bernie" to most of his patients, is the orthodontist at Omega Dental Specialists and is board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. He earned his dental degree at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, graduating cum laude in research, and his thesis won the Grace Milliken Award for best thesis in the class of 2014. He then trained in orthodontics at the UCLA School of Dentistry, finishing his orthodontic certificate and a Master of Science in Oral Biology in 2017.
He treats teenagers and adults with traditional braces, ceramic braces and Invisalign. Straight teeth are only part of the goal. He plans every case around the bite, the way the upper and lower teeth meet, because a bite that fits chews better, wears more evenly and is easier to keep clean.
Orthodontics often overlaps with other specialties. Some patients need gum treatment before braces go on, or a tooth taken out to make room, and some will want implants or crowns once the teeth are where they belong. With the periodontist and the oral surgeons working in the same office, those steps are planned together before treatment starts.
Treatment takes months, and he counts the patient as part of the team: someone who understands the plan and sticks with it is a big part of what makes it work. So he puts real effort into keeping people motivated, from the first appointment to the day the braces or aligners come off.
