A full denture replaces every tooth in an arch and rests on the gum and bone underneath, held by suction and the shape of the ridge. It starts at $1,800 per arch. A partial denture, from $1,400, is for when you still have healthy teeth worth keeping. It fills the gaps and clasps onto the remaining teeth, which also gives it noticeably more stability than a full denture has.

An implant-supported denture, from $8,500, is what most people are actually picturing when they say they want teeth that do not move. Two to four implants are placed in the jaw and the denture snaps onto them. It still comes out for cleaning, but it does not lift when you bite into something. If your complaint about a current denture is that the lower one floats, this is the design that addresses it, because a lower ridge rarely gives a conventional denture enough to hold onto.

Who does well with dentures, and who should slow down

Almost anyone missing most or all of the teeth in an arch can be fitted with a denture. The useful questions at the consultation are about fit and daily function rather than eligibility.

Implant-supported dentures need enough bone volume to place implants, which we confirm with a CBCT 3D scan instead of by looking. If the ridge has thinned after years without teeth, grafting first is often the answer, and that adds healing time to the plan. Poorly controlled diabetes, heavy smoking and certain bone density medications all affect how implants heal, so we go through your medical history in detail before committing to a design.

Conventional dentures ask more of you day to day. A strong gag reflex, significant dry mouth from medication, or limited hand strength and dexterity all make a removable appliance harder to live with. Raise those early. Sometimes the right answer is a different design rather than a better-made version of the same one.

How your denture gets designed and made

The first appointment is records. That means impressions or a digital scan of your ridges, a bite registration so we know how your jaws meet, and photos and shade selection so the teeth suit your face rather than a catalogue. We design the denture in 3D before anything is fabricated, which is how fit problems get solved before the lab starts instead of at delivery.

Before it is finished you see a try-in and approve the look. This is the appointment to be picky at. Tooth shape, shade, how much shows when you smile, where the midline sits, all of it is adjustable at that stage and awkward to change later.

If teeth still need to come out, our oral surgeons handle the extractions and, when implants are part of the plan, place those as well. That is the practical value of a multi-specialty office. The surgeon, the restorative dentist and the lab all work from the same scan and the same plan, in the same building.

The first month, and the years after that

New dentures feel bulky at first and your mouth tends to produce extra saliva for a while. Both settle. Expect a few sore spots in the early weeks and expect to come back for adjustments. That is part of the process, not a sign the denture is wrong. Please do not file or adjust it yourself.

Practice by reading out loud for a few minutes a day. Start with soft food cut into small pieces and chew on both sides at once rather than biting with the front teeth. Clean the denture over a folded towel or a basin of water so a drop does not crack it. Brush it daily with a denture brush and a non-abrasive cleaner rather than regular toothpaste, and never use hot water, which can warp the acrylic. Take it out at night unless we have told you otherwise, and let your gums rest.

Your jawbone keeps changing shape after teeth are gone, so a denture that fits today will need relining at some point.

Starting prices are $1,800 per arch for a full denture, $1,400 for a partial and $8,500 for an implant-supported denture. The implant figure covers a much larger scope of work, including surgery, so weigh it against what it includes rather than against the other numbers on the list. Most dental plans contribute something toward conventional dentures and treat implants under different rules, so we verify your benefits at no charge and show the estimated insurance portion next to the total. For the remainder we work with Cherry, Affirm and Sunbit for monthly payments, and we have an in-house membership plan for patients without insurance.

If a denture cracks or a tooth comes off, bring it in. Same-day repairs start at $150 and we are open Saturday 9am to 3pm. Household glue usually turns a repair into a remake, so leave it alone and call us.
