The drive south from the Heights

From Heights Boulevard or the 19th Street shops, the run south along Studemont or Montrose brings you across Buffalo Bayou and into Midtown in roughly ten to fifteen minutes depending on traffic. From the eastern Heights near White Oak, cut down toward the bayou and continue south. We are at 106 West Gray Street with parking on site, which families with a car full of kids tend to rate highly.

The Heights sends us more orthodontic cases than almost anywhere, and Dr. Bernard Boback, our orthodontist, is Harvard-trained with a UCLA residency. Traditional braces start at $3,500, Invisalign starts at the same $3,500 so families choose on fit rather than budget, lingual braces sit at $8,000, and retainers are $250. Many PPO plans include a lifetime orthodontic benefit that covers a portion, and we verify it for free before you commit to anything.

Everyday care that does not need a second office

New-patient exam and cleaning is $99, adult cleanings are $120, and children's cleanings are $95. What makes the trip worth it for Heights families is what happens when routine care finds something: a tooth that needs a root canal goes to our endodontist, a wisdom-teeth consult goes to our oral surgeons, gum treatment goes to our periodontist, all in the same visit sequence, same building, same records, no new-patient paperwork somewhere else.

Saturday mornings and school schedules

Getting three people to a dentist during a school week is its own logistical event. We are open Saturdays, 9 to 3, which is when a lot of our Heights families book back-to-back appointments and get the whole household seen in one trip. Weekday emergency slots are held daily for the broken tooth that does not schedule itself.

When something breaks on a Saturday morning

Dental emergencies do not respect the calendar, and Heights patients call us for them regularly. If a tooth is knocked out, handle it by the crown and not the root, rinse it gently if it is dirty, and either put it back in the socket or keep it in milk while you drive. Time matters more than anything else you can do. For a cracked or broken tooth, rinse with warm water and hold a cold compress against the outside of your cheek. Most general practices send specialty work somewhere else, which means new paperwork, a new waiting room, and a wait for an appointment. Here it is a walk down the hall. Our oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Dr. Rosenstein and Dr. Watkins, handle wisdom teeth, extractions, and implant placement. Our endodontists, Dr. Bohluli and Dr. Terrany, do root canals, which is all they do. Dr. Farhadian, our periodontist, treats gum disease and the bone that supports your teeth. Dr. Boback handles orthodontics, and Dr. Melamed and Dr. Khobyari cover general and cosmetic dentistry. For a family driving in from the Heights, the practical upshot is that something found at a cleaning does not turn into a second trip across town on another day. Your images, your history, and your treatment plan stay in one chart, and the people treating you talk to each other.

What your first visit looks like

New patients start with an exam and cleaning at $99. Plan on a little over an hour, and fill out your health history before you arrive so the appointment is not spent on a clipboard. The exam covers more than cavities. We look at the gums, the bite, and the jaw joints, take the images we need to see what is happening below the surface, and include an oral cancer screening. If we find something, you see it on the screen with your own images rather than hearing it described at you. You leave with a written treatment plan: what is recommended, what is urgent and what can wait, and what each item costs after your insurance has been applied. Adult cleanings after that first visit are $120 and children's cleanings are $95. Nothing gets scheduled until you have seen the numbers, and if a specialist is involved their portion is quoted the same way.

Insurance, financing, and what it costs

We accept and file most major PPO plans, and we verify your benefits before treatment rather than after, so the estimate you approve already has your coverage taken out of it. If your plan is out of network with us, it often still pays a meaningful share, and we will tell you exactly where you stand before you decide. For whatever is left, we work with Cherry, Affirm, and Sunbit. All three let you see your monthly terms before you accept, and checking your options does not commit you to anything. For families without dental insurance, we also offer an in-house membership plan, and we will walk you through what it includes. Orthodontic benefits are usually separate from your annual maximum, so braces at $3,500 or retainers at $250 may be partly covered even in a year you have used your other benefits.
