Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Dr. Jonathan Rosenstein, DDS

Dr. Jonathan Rosenstein is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Omega Dental Specialists. He is board certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Touro College in Queens, New York, where he graduated as valedictorian of his class, and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He then completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York.

About the Doctor

He served as Chief Resident in the final year of his residency, and his scholarly work has been published in journals and textbooks including the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the New York State Dental Journal, Dental Clinics of North America, and the European Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of Osseointegration, and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Oral and maxillofacial surgery covers the procedures that go beyond the scope of general dentistry. At Omega, Dr. Rosenstein performs surgical extractions, wisdom tooth removal, dental implant placement, and bone grafting, and treats conditions affecting the mouth, jaws, and face. Many patients meet an oral surgeon for the first time when a tooth cannot be saved or when wisdom teeth start causing trouble, and a clear explanation of what will happen, and why, goes a long way toward making a surgical visit feel manageable.

Because Omega brings several dental specialties together under one roof, Dr. Rosenstein works alongside a second oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Edmund Watkins, as well as endodontists, a periodontist, an orthodontist, and general and cosmetic dentists in the same office. If your care starts with an extraction and later calls for an implant and a crown, the planning happens in one place, with one team sharing your records and your imaging. That means fewer referrals across town, less repeated paperwork, and a treatment plan that every doctor involved is following together, from the first consultation to the finished restoration.

Patients rate Omega 4.6 stars across more than 1,200 Google reviews, and surgical care is a large share of them. You can read what patients say on our reviews page — and if you are holding a surgical treatment plan from another office, bring it: second opinions are ordinary here, and the 3D CBCT scan at your consultation is free.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to see an oral surgeon in Houston?

No. You can book directly with Dr. Rosenstein — most of our surgical patients come without a referral. Call (713) 322-7474 or book online, and bring any X-rays or treatment plans you already have.

What does an oral surgery consultation cost?

The consultation for implant work includes a free 3D CBCT scan. For extractions, the fee is quoted in writing after an exam — simple extractions are $290 per tooth and wisdom tooth removal is $450 per tooth at our office. See oral surgery in Houston for the full picture.

What is the difference between a dentist and an oral surgeon?

An oral and maxillofacial surgeon completes a hospital surgical residency after dental school, covering anesthesia and the surgical management of the mouth, jaws and face. Dr. Rosenstein is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; general dentists refer the cases that need that training.
